Participatory perfomance with embroidery on reclaimed domestic textiles
This series of embroideries reinterprets words written on the walls of Tbilisi, Georgia, through a personal lens of reflection and emotion. The artist adjusts these phrases, giving them new meaning and context. Although the original intentions behind the words remain unknown, the process becomes an opportunity for personal en- gagement and exploration. In this way, the project unfolds as a co-creation between the artist, the street artists who first wrote the words, the crafters who made the napkins, the individuals who used them, and the viewers — each playing a part in the ongoing dialogue.
During the dinner, each guest receives a napkin with a phrase or word, sparking conversation about how language shapes our per- sonal ideologies. This project invites reflection on biases and assumptions, creating space for open discussion.
Drawing inspiration from Judy Chicago’s "The Dinner Party", which uses symbolic place settings to explore gender and identity, this work reimagines everyday language as a tool for deeper understanding and connection, with each participant playing a role in co-creating meaning.
